We live in a time of great changes. Repeat photography is a valuable way of seeing that historical change, be it in a tree, a landscape or urban context.
A starting point is the paper that a group of undergrads worked on (remotely) during COVID:
Gilbert, M.E. Deriquito, R.C. Lam, S.B. Roth, S. (2023). Methods for finding the location of historical photographs for repeat photography. Madroño 69(3): 252-262 https://doi.org/10.3120/0024-9637-69.3.252
We operationalized this in an R package: rePhoto package https://github.com/MatthewGilbertUCD/rePhoto
See vignette: rePhoto R package Vignette
Under construction...will add many examples of repeat photographs
